From murder to mayhem, intrigue and mystery.
It was on the 31st of August in the year 1888 in London,
That the first victim of “Jack the Ripper” was found dead.
The lifeless corpse of Mary Ann “Polly” Nichols was found,
In the Whitechapel district of London’s East End on the ground.
The Confederates evacuated Atlanta on this day in 1864.
This happened before Sherman and the troops entered the city.
The North celebrated this much needed victory.
It is now recorded in the extensive records of history.
It was on the 31st of August that a young Princess died.
Princess Diana lost her life in an automobile accident in Paris.
Both her companion Dodi Fayed and the driver died in this tragedy.
The British nation and the world mourned this great loss of a princess.
On the 31st of August in 1991, two countries left the Soviet Union.
